Terms of Service
Last updated: October 23, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Mental Balance ("we", "us") for the quiz at mentalbalance.app, the Mental Balance app and the subscription that unlocks it. By taking the quiz or buying a plan you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. What Mental Balance is — and isn't
Mental Balance is a self-help tool for adults who find everyday life with ADHD traits hard: a quiz, a personal profile, a plan of short daily practices and an app that helps you capture, sort and remember tasks.
The quiz is based on the WHO Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1, Part A). It is a screening tool. Your score and profile describe a pattern in your answers; they are not a medical diagnosis, and nothing in the service is medical advice, treatment or a substitute for a clinician. Only a qualified professional can diagnose ADHD.
Don't start, stop or change any medication or treatment because of something you read here. If you are in crisis or think you may harm yourself or someone else, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line straight away.
The app's assistant is run by AI. It can mishear a voice note, misunderstand what you meant or get a time wrong, so don't rely on it alone for anything where a mistake would be serious — medication doses, legal or financial deadlines, appointments you can't miss.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old. The service is for your own personal, non-commercial use.
3. Your email and your access
We send your profile to the email address you give us, and the same address is how you sign in to the app after buying a plan. Use an address you control and keep access to it; you are responsible for activity under it.
4. Plans, prices and automatic renewal
The service is sold as a subscription. The plans on offer, their length and their prices are shown on the plan screen before you pay.
- Your subscription starts the moment your payment goes through. There is no free trial.
- If a first-payment discount is shown, it applies to your first payment only.
- Your plan then renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the full price shown next to the plan and in the checkout summary, until you cancel.
- Each renewal is charged to the payment method you used. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.
If you subscribe in the app, the purchase is made through Apple: it is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm it and renews automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple's terms apply to that purchase as well as these.
5. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time. A plan bought on our website: in the app under Me → Plan → Manage on the web, or by writing to support@mentalbalance.app from the email address you signed up with. A plan bought in the app: in your iPhone's Settings → your name → Subscriptions — Apple runs that subscription, so we can't cancel it for you.
Cancelling stops all future charges. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancelling on its own does not refund that period — refunds are covered next.
6. Refunds and your right to change your mind
Your first purchase comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. The details are in our Refund Policy, which is part of these terms.
If you live in the EU or the UK, the law gives you 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Our guarantee gives you at least that: ask within 14 days of your first payment and we refund it in full.
Refunds for purchases made in the app are handled by Apple, under Apple's rules: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
7. Using the service fairly
Please don't:
- copy, resell or republish the quiz, the profiles, the plan or the app's content;
- try to break, overload or get around the security of the service;
- use it to build a competing product, or scrape it with automated tools;
- use it for anyone under 18;
- use the assistant to harass anyone, break the law, or ask it to act in someone else's accounts without their permission.
We may suspend access that puts the service or other people at risk.
8. Our content
The quiz, texts, designs, software and the Mental Balance name and logo belong to us or our licensors. Buying a plan gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use them while your subscription is active. What you put into the app stays yours; you let us process it only to run the service for you, as the Privacy Policy describes.
9. What we can and can't promise
We work to keep the service useful and available, but everyone's experience with ADHD is different and we can't promise a particular result. The service is provided as it is.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
10. Changes
We may update the service and these terms. If a change matters to you — prices, billing or your rights — we will tell you by email before it applies. The date at the top shows the current version.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country where the company that operates Mental Balance is established. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in its courts.
